A paixão de Rohit Jandid por esculturas em miniatura
Nesta semana, o Blog It Rab foi conhecer uma família de artistas escultores, entre eles o Sr. Mahesh Jangid (pai), e seus filhos Mohit Jangid e Rohit Jangid que, gentilmente, responderam às perguntas para o blog. Eles vivem e têm um estúdio na cidade chamada Jaipur, a capital e maior cidade do estado do Rajastão, na Índia. Dessa cidade, os trabalhos em madeira são mundialmente conhecidos pela elegância e qualidade.
As esculturas da família são feitas em uma escala em miniatura, mas apresentam precisão, delicadeza e riqueza de detalhes, que é impossível acreditar que foram feitas com ferramentas muito simples. Uma arte original e feita com paixão que rendeu ao sr. Mahesh alguns prêmios durante sua vida, como o registro no livro Limca Book of Records e Indian Book of Records.
Essa paixão e técnica foram passados aos seus filhos, que estão sempre pensando em como fazer suas esculturas mais atraentes e bonitas e, com isso, ambos também passaram a ganhar prêmios.
No dia 11 de fevereiro deste ano, Rohit ganhou o Prêmio do Estado pelo Ministro Chefe de Rajasthan Shri Ashok Parnami (presidente de estado de BJP, Rajasthan e MLA de Rajasthan da cidade de Jaipur) pelo seu trabalho em miniatura.
The Blog It Rab talked to a family of sculptore artists, Mr. Mahesh Jangid (father), and their sons Mohit Jangid and Rohit Jangid, who kindly answered the questions for the blog. They live and have an art studio in the city called Jaipur, the capital and the largest city of the state of Rajasthan, in India. From this city woodworking is known worldwide for its elegance and quality.
The family sculptures are done on a miniature scale, but present a precision, tenderness and richness of detail, that it is impossible to believe that only very simple tools are used to produce them. An original and passionate art that yields Mr. Mahesh important awards during his lifetime, as recorded in the Limca Book of Records and Indian Book of Records.
This passion and technique were transmitted to his children, who are always thinking about how to make their sculptures more attractive and beautiful and with that both also started to win prizes as well.
On February 11 of this year Rohit won the State Prize for Rajasthan Chief Minister Shri Ashok Parnami (BJP State President, Rajasthan and MLA of Jaipur City) by miniature work.

To learn more about the work of this family, Rohit answered some questions and kindly sent us some pictures from his collection.
1.Blog It Rab- Você fez algum curso de artes ou é autodidata?
Rohit Jangid - Este é o meu trabalho tradicional, somos a 4ª geração deste ramo, e eu nunca fiz qualquer curso de arte. Aprendi com meu pai, o Sr. Mahesh Jangid (vencedor do Prêmio Nacional de 1993)
1. Blog It - Did you take any course in the arts or are you self-taught?
Rohit Jangid -This is my traditional work, we are the 4th generation of this work, and I never took any art course. I learned from my father, Mr. Mahesh Jangid (National Award Winner 1993)
2- Blog It Rab - Como a arte de fazer esculturas apareceu em sua vida? Quando você começou a fazer as esculturas de madeira?
Rohit Jangid - Eu aprendi este trabalho na minha infância. Eu costumava brincar com ferramentas e foi assim que comecei este trabalho com escultura. Eu nasci em uma família de mestres, por isso foi fácil para mim aprender este trabalho.
2.Blog It Rab - How did the art of making sculptures come into your life? When did you start making the wood carvings?
Rohit Jangid - I learned this work from my childhood. I used to play with tools and started this carving work. I was born in a masters family so it was easy for me to learn this work.
3- Blog It Rab - De onde vem a sua inspiração para fazer as esculturas?
Rohit Jangid - Nossa miniatura feita de sândalo é um pouco diferente do estilo dos outros. Estou seguindo os passos do meu pai, mas às vezes buscamos inspirações para nossas esculturas de madeira miniaturizadas na história, na mitologia e na vida cotidiana da Índia.
3- Blog It Rab - Where does the inspiration come from to you make the sculptures?
Rohit Jangid - Our sandalwood miniature carving is little different from others style. I’m following my father’s footsteps but sometimes we draw inspiration for our miniaturised wooden carvings from history, mythology and day-to-day life in India.
4- Blog It Rab - As esculturas são sempre feitas de madeira ou têm outros materiais? Existe alguma técnica específica, algum instrumento usado que seja essencial?
Rohit Jangid - Trabalhamos em sândalo apenas porque o sândalo é o meio mais propício para o nosso artesanato em particular, porque é mais suave do que a maioria dos tipos de madeira e mais fácil para nós trabalharmos.
4- Blog It Rab - Are the sculptures always made of wood, or do they have other material? Is there any specific technique, any instrument or tool that is essential to the work?
Rohit Jangid - We work on sandalwood only because Sandalwood is the most conducive medium for our particular craft because it is softer than most types of wood and easier for us to work with.
5- Blog It Rab - Qual é o tamanho da maioria das esculturas? E quanto tempo é necessário para finalizá-las?
Rohit Jangid - Tamanho e tempo dependem de cada peça e da dificuldade da escultura, mas a maioria das minhas obras leva cerca de um mês para terminar.
5- Blog It Rab - What is the size of most sculptures and how much time is required to finalize a work?
Rohit Jangid - Size & time depends on each pieces and carving work, but most of my works takes around one month to finish.
6- Blog It Rab - Você participou de alguma exposição? Você pode citar algumas importantes?
Rohit Jangid - Participo em exposições nacionais como, Feira de Arte Dilli Haat & Surajkund, e meu pai participa de feiras de arte internacionais do governo indiano. Ele já participou em feiras na Suíça, Malásia, Egito, Paris, Hungria, Polônia, etc.
6- BlogIt Rab - Have you participated in any exhibition? Can you name some important ones?
Rohit Jangid - I participate in national exhibitions like Dilli Haat & Surajkund art fair, and my father participates in International art fairs from Indian government. He participated in Switzerland, Malaysia, Egypt, Paris, Hungary, Poland, etc
7- Blog It Rab - Que mensagem você quer transmitir às pessoas com suas esculturas?
Rohit Jangid - Os pensamentos do meu pai para este trabalho. Sr. Mahesh sempre se preocupou que seus filhos não pudessem continuar na tradição de esculpir a família, mas ele pode colocar esses medos para descansar. Ambos os filhos dizem que não querem fazer mais nada além das esculturas. Mohit, que recentemente completou toda a sua educação formal, diz que planeja ficar com a escultura: "Vou continuar a fazer este trabalho para o resto da minha vida, porque a escultura não tem limites. O quanto nós fazemos e a que distância vamos, depende totalmente de nós", diz. "Eu gosto que sempre temos coisas novas para fazer, novos projetos, mais trabalhos em miniatura, etc. Eu não teria esse tipo de liberdade com qualquer outro trabalho. Eu sou absolutamente viciado em meu trabalho e muito feliz por ter o talento para fazer isso. "
7- Blog It Rab - What message do you want to convey to people with your sculptures?
Rohit Jangid - My father’s thoughts for this work. Mr. Mahesh was ever concerned that his sons might not continue on in the family carving tradition, he can lay those fears to rest. Both sons say they would not want to do anything else. Mohit, who recently completed all of his formal education, says he plans to stick with carving: “I will continue to do this work for the rest of my life because carving has no limits. How much we do and how far we go is all up to us”, he says. “I like that we always get to do new things, new designs, more miniature work, etc. I would not have this kind of freedom with any other job. I am absolutely addicted to my work and so happy that I have the talent to do this.”
